The Assabet Valley Automotive Collision Repair Technology Evening Program prepares students for rewarding careers in the collision repair industry. Designed around the needs of local employers, the program provides comprehensive training in modern vehicle repair after collisions.

Cosmetology

The Post-Secondary Cosmetology Program offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines theoretical instruction with hands-on practice to prepare students for the Massachusetts State Board of Cosmetology Operator Examination.
This 1,000-hour program follows a structured sequence aligned with state-mandated learning objectives, ensuring students are fully prepared for licensure and career success in the cosmetology field. Graduates will train in a safe, ethical, and professional adult learning environment that mirrors the standards and expectations of modern salon settings.
The program equips students with the essential skills and knowledge required for entry-level employment in the cosmetology industry.
14 month program

HVAC-Mini Split Technician 

HVAC-Mini Split Technician 

Mini Split Repair Technician will cover the basics of heat transfer, pressure, and the basic refrigeration cycle. Students will perform the evacuation, charging, and refrigerant recovery on mini split systems. Piping skills including flaring, soldering and brazing. Basic electricity, circuit logic and the use of electrical meters for diagnostic purposes will be integral to the objectives of becoming a competent technician. 
 
This is a 200 hour program that provides the skills for the student to qualify for the position of entry Installation and Repair Technician.

Welding is a critical workforce development skill area identified for the Central and Metro South West regions of Massachusetts. This hybrid training program is designed to prepare individuals for entry-level positions in the high-demand welding industry through a combination of online learning and hands-on instruction in a state-of-the-art welding facility.
 
Offered in collaboration with Lincoln Electric and ToolingU, the program blends theory with real-world application. Interactive online modules support in-person lab training and include multimedia lessons, assessments, and welding simulations to reinforce skill development and industry best practices.

Would you like to become a licensed electrician/journeyman? According to the Massachusetts State Board of Electrical Examiners, before you take the licensing exam you must complete:
  • 8000 HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT (approximately 4 years) as an apprentice under the direct supervision of a holder of a MA Class B Journeyman's license and
  • 600 HOURS OF CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION in electrical code and theory from an approved school based on the current National Electrical Code.

Assabet Technical Institute is proud to introduce its 500-hour HVAC/R program, designed for adult learners and high school graduates seeking to start a career in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. Developed by an industry professional and certified instructor, this program provides the fundamental knowledge required for entry-level employment in the HVAC/R field.

Computerized Numerical Control (CNC)

Computerized Numerical Control (CNC)

Students will learn to program, set up, and operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling equipment while developing a strong foundation in machine motion, mill control panels, machine startup procedures, and machining operations.
Course topics include programming formats, control functions, program editing, part production, and inspection techniques. Students will manufacture simple parts using CNC milling equipment and perform quality control inspections before, during, and after machining operations.

Esthetics 

Esthetics 

This in-person course provides comprehensive training for aspiring estheticians, covering 600 hours of professional instruction and hands-on practice. Students will learn essential skills such as cleansing, stimulating, manipulating, and beautifying the skin using manual techniques, mechanical and electrical devices, and various cosmetic products including tonics, lotions, and creams.

Plumbing

Plumbing

In order to become a licensed journeyman, you must complete no less than 6,800 clock hours of practical work as a licensed apprentice in no less than four years. This work must be done under the direct supervision of a Commonwealth of Massachusetts licensed master plumber or under the direct supervision of a Commonwealth of Massachusetts licensed journeyman plumber who is in the employ of a master plumber. Experience installing HVAC components for the installation of heating systems, steam piping and hydronic heat piping is not considered qualifying experience.
