What types of classes do you offer?
We offer a wide variety of enrichment classes, including arts, fitness, cooking, technology, and language learning, along with many more topics to explore. We also provide career-focused courses that lead to certifications and licenses. In addition, our Summer Youth Program runs for two weeks in July and is open to middle school students entering grades 5–8.
Class Cancellation
Occasionally, due to unforeseen circumstances, Assabet Community Education may need to cancel a class. In such cases, students will be notified by email and or phone calls.
Cancelled classes will be made up by extending the course end date, maintaining the same day of the week and time, unless alternative arrangements are agreed upon by the instructor and class and approved by the director.
When Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School is closed due to snow, weather conditions, or emergency events, all in-person evening classes will also be cancelled.
During weather events: Please check for school cancellation notices on the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School website or on the following television stations: WBZ-TV, WCVB-TV, and FOX 25-TV. If day classes are not cancelled but weather conditions worsen, any decision regarding evening class cancellations will be communicated to these stations. If evening classes are held as scheduled, no notice will be posted.
What are the scheduled NO CLASS dates?
“Scheduled No Class Dates” are pre-planned days when a class will not meet, even though the course is still in session overall.
These are usually listed in advance and can include things like:
-
Holidays (e.g., Memorial Day)
-
School vacations (winter/spring break)
-
Staff development days or building closures
-
Other known scheduling conflicts
👉 Unlike cancellations, these dates are planned ahead of time and are typically already factored into the course schedule or end date.
Can students under 18 register for classes?
Students must be 18 years of age or older by the start date of the class unless otherwise stated in the course description or with Director approval.
Nondiscrimination Policy
We welcome and accept students of any race, color, religion, handicap, gender identity, national and ethnic origin and extended all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded and made available to Community Education students.
